Some know but many don't, my mother Christina Price suffered a Ischemic stroke to her right side in July. Luckily my wife, Donna was able to catch it early and get her to the hospital before any major damage was done. Sadly about 2 weeks later she suffered a similar stroke, but to her left side. Because of these events she had to spend a few weeks (which she absolutely hated) in the hospital doing rehab to get strong enough to get home. During this already trying time she was also hit with the diagnosis of having breast cancer.
She is currently under going Chemo therapy and it's expected to last for at least the next 5 months. Many have gone through this battle or at least know some one who has; so I am sure you understand the toll it can take on a persons mind and body. Its been a very busy month and a half with Donna taking mom back and forth to the doctors for routine blood work, test after test, and biopsy after biopsy and as you can imagine, the bills are starting to mount up. Mom only has medicaid insurance so we have been coming out of pocket to cover some charges but now we are looking for a little help from our family and friends.
Instead of just doing a go fund me page, we have decided to have a beef and beer in an effort to raise a little money that can be used to help alleviate some of the burden that these bills will soon bring. Having a beef and beer for mom will also allow us to show a woman who has worked 50+ hours a week tirelessly for over 30 years, raised 3 boys, and a host of nieces and nephews and anyone else who called her mom or auntie some love, appreciation, and to motivate her to kick this cancers ass and continue to rehab from the strokes so she can get back to her old self!
We would love to see everyone there but we also understand that sometimes schedules conflict. If the date doesn't work for you but you still want to donate, you can by simply just purchasing a ticket. We will also need a few volunteers to help us set up, serve food, clean up, and to insure that things run as smooth as possible; so if you are able to volunteer please let Donna or my self know via fb messenger.
